A cultural treasure chest
The stunning city of Split is a cultural treasure chest with its numerous architectural monuments, extensive parks, and diverse cultural scene. Diocletian’s Palace is certainly one of the most impressive remnants from the Roman era, and it was adjoining to this that the old town of Split was built. This historical town along with the Palace of Diocletian has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979. Gorgeous plazas and spectacular architecture give the impression of a large, open air museum. The modern city of Split also has its own unique charm with galleries, plentiful shops, and numerous cafes and restaurants. The impressive mountain Marjan that rises above the city entices those seeking a longer stroll and a spectacular view.
