Peloponnese: Follow in the footsteps of Greek Greats

The beautiful Peloponnese Peninsula, located in southern Greece, is named after the mythological figure Pelops, son of King Tantalus. For this reason, the peninsula is often called “the island of Pelops”. The Peloponnese, one of the most historically significant regions of Greece, bares the marks of the diverse civilizations who have called the peninsula their home over the centuries. Our island hopping tour "Peloponnese & Saronic Islands (by boat)" explores much of the Peloponnese coast, including the geologically fascinating Methana volcanic peninsula. Additionally, we explore the enchanting Saronic islands of Spetses, Hydra, Poros, and Aegina.

Ionian Islands: A green paradise you won’t want to leave

If you are looking for paradise on earth, you will find it while Greek island-hopping! Travel with us to the Ionian Islands, an archipelago whose namesake is Ios, daughter of the river god Inachos and one of Zeus’ many lovers. This archipelago consits of seven major islands off the west coast of Greece whose natural abundance places them among the most scenic islands to visit in Greece. The island’s exquisite white-sand beaches, the shimmering turquoise-blue Ionian Sea and the abundance of lush nature are the three key aspects that distinguishes this Greek holiday destination from all others. The Venetian inspired UNESCO town of Corfu is definitely worth exploring while Kefalonia and Lefkas, home of Odysseus', as well as Ithaca and the olive island Paxos are some of the best islands to visit in Greece. Cyclades: The blue and white island dream

When thinking of Greece, the characteristic postcard picture of white cube houses with their blue shutters lining a labyrinth of alleys may come to mind. This distinctive Greek image is exactly what you will find when exploring the towns of the Cyclades. It was here, over 5,000 years ago, that the first advanced European civilisation was established. If you want to experience traditional Greece, this is the perfect place to do so! Discover the Greek islands of Kea, Kithnos, Serifos and Sifnos on our “Cyclades & Saronic Islands” Islandhopping tour. These are some of the quietest islands in the Cyclades and a true insider tip! Experience the Cyclades with all your senses: taste the delicious honey, cultivated since ancient times, as well as the various cheeses made from sheep’s, goats and cow’s milk. What’s more, these delicious treats make wonderful gifts and souvenirs!

Dodecanese Islands: Pearls in the Aegean Sea

“Dodeka” is the Greek word for twelve while “nisos” means island. It is from this that the twelve main islands belonging to the famous Aegean archipelago, located off the coast of Turkey, received its name Dodecanese. Explore these sunny islands on the Greek Aegean Sea with us by hybrid bike and mountain bike. The ancient Asklepion on Kos, where the famous doctor Hippocrates learned the art of modern medicine, the peace and tranquillity of the island of Lipsi, the volcanic island of Nisyros and the island of Kalymnos, famous for its sponges since ancient times, can be counted among the best islands to visit while Greek island hopping.

Facts about Greece

Best Time Visit Greece

In summer, a maximum temperature of 29°C (84°F) can be expected during the day in north and inland Greece with a maximum of around 5°C (41°F) in winter. The area around the Ionian and Aegean Sea offer a Mediterranean climate with summers being predominantly sunny and dry. The average maximum temperature in summer is 30°C (86°F), while the weather in winter tends to be rainy and mild, depending on the region. In southern Greece, such as on the island of Crete, winter temperatures can remain as warm as 25°C (77°F) during the day with very little rain.

The best time to visit Greece for a bike tour is from April to June and September to November. The pleasant temperatures ranging between 20°C (68°F) and 27°C (81°F) make even the most demanding tours enjoyable. The so-called Meltemi Winds that blow across the Aegean Sea during the summer months between July and August are refreshing for islanders but make seafaring a greater challenge. For this reason, we do not visit the Cyclades during this time of year. Naturally, challenging winds can rise throughout the year and therefore slight changes to a tour programme may occur at any time.

The summer months from July to September are the best times for beachside or family vacations in Greece on one of our Multi-Adventure Cruises. Temperatures can often reach 30°C (86°F) while the water temperature remains a pleasant 23°C (73°F) until October.
