Extension program Santorini

A visit to Santorini would be the perfect addition to your Cyclades trip? Then we recommend our 4-day Santorini extension program. The queen of the Aegean enchants with its breathtaking caldera and colorful cliffs. Included in the program are transfers, three overnight stays with breakfast, an optional guided sea kayak tour close to the Red Beach or an E-bike tour on Santorini or a culinary caldera sunset walk.

Additional nights in Athens

We are happy to arrange additional nights with breakfast in Athens. The 2004 Olympic Games held in the Greek capital had an incredibly positive effect on the lively 5-million-strong metropolis. Large areas of the city centre were converted into pedestrian zones and a vast archaeological park was created around the Acropolis. A stroll through the many winding alleys of the Plaka, the charming old town quarter, is a wonderful way to spend a warm summer evening.

Extension program in Athens

There is so much to see in Athens. Would you like to see it all? Then we recommend our 3-day additional program in the Greek capital for a true all-round experience in the city of seemingly countless possibilities. Transfers are included as well as two overnight stays in a hotel in the city centre, a guided bike tour through Athens, entrance to the Acropolis, and dinner at a typical Greek tavern.

Important information

Itinerary changes

The Cyclades are among the windiest regions of Greece, which can occasionally affect the planned itinerary. This tour is generally offered during months when lighter winds are expected; however, weather conditions can never be predicted with complete certainty. In some cases, it may not be possible to visit every island as planned. Should this occur, the yacht will remain longer on one of the islands than originally scheduled. Nearly all the islands visited are large enough to offer appealing alternative activities, and there is also the option to take day trips to other islands via regular ferry services.

Our Plus-Tours

This tour is part of our Islandhopping PLUS program. The PLUS tours offer our guests a PLUS all-round: a comfortable motor yacht, unlimited e-bike availability, as well as some pleasant surprises along the way.

Cycling Tour Requirements

LEVEL 4 / 5
Cycling tours through hilly to mountainous terrain with some steeper ascents of up to approximately 500 meters (highest ascent). Requires confident riding on winding descents, uneven asphalt, and occasionally gravel paths. Suitable for experienced cyclists accustomed to longer daily stages. All tours, including the elevation gains, can be mastered more easily with electronic assistance.

Distance:
25 - 42 km per day

Total elevation:
250 - 800 meters of elevation per day

Road condition:
The roads are mostly paved and experience little traffic outside of the holiday season.

Traffic:
Traffic can be expected in and around coastal towns.

Infrastructure:
There are no designated bike paths on the Cyclades Islands, so the bike tours take place on public roads, preferably on quiet side streets.

Relevant for all levels:
Safe cycling skills and familiarity with road traffic are prerequisites for taking part in our tours.  Anyone renting an e-bike should already have experience and be confident in handling e-bikes, as these bikes are significantly heavier and faster than conventional bikes.

Individual cycling
This tour is primarily a guided group tour. Upon consultation with your tour guides, the possibility to cycle on your own along recommended, suitable routes, may present itself. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike tour.

Spoken language

Due to our international audience all Islandhopping tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.

Requirement to wear a helmet

Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).

Bringing children

We believe that only children in a good physical condition and with a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the cycle tours with their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.50 m (5 ft.).

For the best tour experience with children, we recommend our Multi-Adventure Cruises in Croatia or Greece. We are convinced that these itineraries provide the best all-round experience for each individual family member.

Bringing private bikes & exclusion of private e-bikes

Islandhopping can offer you high quality, fully serviced rental bikes perfect for the terrain of this tour.

We do not allow private e-bikes on board of our boats. This decision has been made due to health and safety regulations. If you wish to ride an e-bike for the duration of your tour, please get in touch with us about the rental options.

Noise on board

Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

Internet availability

A free WiFi connection is available on your ship. On the open sea, reception cannot be guaranteed at all times. If you need stable Internet access during your voyage, we recommend that you take your laptop or tablet to a café or bar at the port. Free WiFi is offered almost everywhere. If you order something there, you can use the WiFi without restriction.

Dining

A chef accompanies you on your journey, preparing a generous breakfast each morning and a warm meal daily. Meals are provided on a half-board basis, starting on the second day with breakfast at the hotel/dinner on board and concluding with breakfast on the day of departure.
