MTB Cruise Central Greek Aegean Standard

(8 Days/7 Nights, approx. 175 km , 4000 hm)

Set yourself in motion and discover the Central Greek Aegean by mountain bike and boat! The islands are a magical and mythical world vibrant in stories and cultural wonders. Packing your bags is a thing of the past, our beautiful boat is your home, restaurant and transporter for the duration of your stay.

From summiteers to bathing beauties all have their wishes fulfilled. Natural pathways and riding trails pave the way across the islands of Kos, Kalymnos, Leros, Lipsi and Patmos as you discover them by bike. After the tours the boat lays anchor in a blissful bay where you enter the clear blue with a leap from deck. Evenings can be whiled away strolling through picture perfect harbour towns or chilling in a rustic bar while enjoying your beverage of choice.

On some tour dates a parallel hybrid bicycle cruise through the Central Greek Aegean will take place on board of the same boat. If your partner or friend prefers travelling by hybrid bike, there is of course the possibility to experience the journey together with only the cycling taking place in different groups. One guide caters for the mountain bikers, the other for the hybrid cyclists with meals and sightseeing being enjoyed together as one group.

As an alternative to arrival per plane via Turkey, arrival per plane via the island of Kos followed by a connecting ferry from Kos to Bodrum is also possible. A detailed overview to this alternative can be found under ‘Journey’.

Itinerary changes

We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. This tour is sometimes operated in reverse direction.

Requirements of the bike routes (MTB Grade 2):

Moderate to challenging daily tours in hilly terrain at distances of 25 – 45 km and 550 to 1,200 meters of elevation. The terrain in this region is very diverse and changes from island to island: technical and demanding single trails alternate with wide gravel 4×4 roads and sometimes also quiet asphalt stretches; there are very few unrideable points. Various sections in the tour are offered at a higher or lower technical degree, leaving you to make the final decision.

Our tours are dependent on weather conditions and the final decision is that of the captain. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend time on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike-tour.

Single-Track Classification

So that you are well prepared for your bike tour at Islandhopping, and that you know which technicality grade you should await to be confronted by, we have have comprised a classification for all single tracks which you will ride. The difficulty levels included in our classification coincide with the Singeltrail-Skala found at (

Red (medium, S2): loose surfaces, larger stones and roots, steps and shallow stairs, gradients of up to 70 %, light hairpins, permanent braking readiness, displacement of centre of mass to overcome obstacles, accurate braking, permanent body tension.

Black (heavy, S3 – S5): blocked single trails, many large boulders and roots, smooth/slippery surfaces, loose scree slopes, large steps/drops, extremely steep gradients of over 70 %, tight hairpins, expert level of bike control/handling.
