1st Day (Sat) Arrival to Athens

Individual arrival to Athens. Airport transfers can be organized on requests. Check-in in the centrally located city hotel. You will meet your tour guide at 7 pm in the hotel’s lobby for a first briefing. Welcome dinner in a nearby restaurant with a nice view of the Acropolis. Overnight stay in Athens.

2nd Day (Sun) Athens – Aegina Island (approx. 35 km by bike)

After breakfast a transfer will take you to the port of Piraeus. At 10:15 am, we will take the ferry to Aegina Island. The bikes will be transferred separately to the ferry port. After arrival, we ride our bikes for a few hundred meters to enjoy a light lunch in Aegina Town next to the small beach that lies in front of the remains of an impressive Bronze Age settlement and the Apollo temple. Afterwards check-in in the hotel, where we get a small rest and prepare ourselves for the afternoon ride that takes us up to the sanctuary of the goddess Aphaia. The beautifully preserved temple rests high up above the blue sea, the only place on the island from where the Aegean Sea can be seen on both sides of the island simultaneously. On the ride back, we will first stop at Agia Marina beach for a swim and later on, we cycle through the centre of the island passing the great monastery of Saint Nektarios to Aegina city where the ship awaits. Joint dinner in Aegina town and overnight stay on Aegina.

3rd Day (Mon) Aegina Island – Poros Island (approx. 23 km by bike)

After breakfast check-out and ferry ride to Poros Island. On arrival, we ride our bikes to the hotel. Check-in and lunch.  In the afternoon, we will start cycling from the island’s capital, which holds the same name as the island itself, towards the 18th century Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi. Continuing on, we will almost completely circle the island, which, in ancient times, was considered to be the island of Poseidon, God of the Sea. Shortly before the end of the tour, we will reach Russian Bay, whose sandy beach and turquoise waters are sure to tempt us to dive in for a swim. The evening will be spent in the enchanting harbour of Poros City, with its landmark clock tower. We can end our eventful day with a common dinner surrounded by characteristic Greek atmosphere. Overnight stay on Poros.

4th Day (Tue) Day trip to Hydra Island

Today we take a day trip with the high-speed boat to the neighbouring island Hydra. Since time immemorial, donkeys have been the only means of transport on this unique, beautiful island. Thanks to seafaring, the island became very wealthy in the middle ages. Then, after the Greek War of Independence, spanning from 1821-1830, the island fell into a hundred-year slumber. It was only when, in 1957, the film “Boy on a Dolphin” starring the unforgettable Sofia Loren was filmed on Hydra that life was brought back to the island by a flood of artists, e.g. Leonard Cohen owned a house on this charming island. On Hydra your guide offers a guided hiking tour along the coast and a sightseeing tour through the beautiful main town. There are also various bathing and shopping facilities. The day will fly by. In the afternoon, we return to Poros, where we enjoy a common dinner and spend a second night in the same hotel.

5th Day (Wed) Poros Island – Methana (approx. 28 km by bike) – Nafplio - Mycenae

After breakfast we take a small ferry from Poros to Galatas on the Peloponnese. From there we cycle through the village of Trizina to the peninsula of Methana. After a well-deserved coffee break a transfer will pick us up and take us to Mycenae (about 1.5 hrs drive). There we check into the hotel Petit Planet and enjoy lunch. Later in the afternoon a transfer takes us to the iconic city of Nafplio (approx. 30 min drive). Our tour guide invites us on a stroll through the picturesque alleys of the former Greek capital. Nafplio is a captivating island with its ingenious fortifications and eventful history along with its flower filled old town and the numerous, beautiful cafes, bars and restaurants. The perfect place to spend a wonderful, relaxed evening, which will be rounded off with a great dinner together. After dinner, a transfer takes us back to our hotel in Mycenae.

6th Day (Thu) Ancient Mycenae – Ancient Epidauros – Methana Peninsula (approx. 20 km by bike)

After breakfast, our first visit will be to the magnificent fortress of Mycenae. The site has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999. In the 2nd century BC, Mycenae was one of Greece’s most important cities. King Atreus and his son Agamemnon play a significant role in Greek mythology. The excavation site is enthralling: The famous Lion Gate, the incredibly thick cyclopean walls, Grave Circles A and B along with the gold and silver discoveries and the Treasury of Atreus are all very much worth a visit. Later on, a transfer takes us to the ancient site of Epidauros (approx. 1 hr drive), once the sanctuary of Asclepius, the god of healing, where the best-preserved ancient theatre in Greece, with exceptionally good acoustics, is located. After visiting Epidauros it is only a short drive down to the harbour village of Epidauros, where we enjoy lunch, before the transfer takes us back to the peninsula of Methana. There we check in at our hotel and in the late afternoon we can either take a bike tour along the south coast of Methana or simply cycle to a nearby sandy beach and enjoy a swim in the warm, summer Mediterranean Sea. Joint dinner and overnight stay in Methana.

7th Day (Fri) Methana Peninsula (approx. 20 km by bike) – Athens

Today, we explore the southwestern part of the Methana Peninsula by bike. The volcanic origin of Methana is immediately noticeable by the smell of sulphur and the shimmering colours of the rocks. The peninsula is characterised by its 30 plus volcanos, some of which are still active, as well as the medicinal, sulphurous thermal springs. Today’s round trip offers numerous, incredible views. After a light lunch in the port of Methana, we take the ferry back to Athens at 1:45 pm. A transfer picks us up at the port of Piraeus and takes us to a city hotel in Athens. In the late afternoon, we have a walking tour through the historical centre of Athens. During our farewell dinner, we can look back on a wonderful holiday week with many unforgettable impressions. Overnight stay in Athens.

8th Day (Sat) – Departure from Athens

After breakfast checkout and individual return home or you extend your holidays in Greece. Airport transfers can be organized on request.
