MTB Cruise Gulf of Gökova Standard

MTB Cruise Gulf of Gökova Standard

(8 Days/7 Nights, approx. 190 km , 5450 hm)

Exploring the Gökova Golf by boat and mountain bike is pure nature experience! This scenic gem stretches between the historic city of Bodrum and the extremely attractive Datҁa Peninsula.

Spared from mass tourism, it is here that Turkey shows itself from its most original side. Pristine, wild nature with fantastic panoramas, small harbors, wonderfully clear waters and historical highlights make the Gökova-Gulf a very attractive holiday destination worth discovering on two wheels! You will explore this charming site without having to worry about your luggage. Your comfortable floating home and restaurant accompanies you throughout the whole tour.

You can explore the region on a number of natural trails and newly built single trails, with a refreshing swim in the sea at the end of each day. In the evening, you can take a walk through idyllic harbor towns or chill out in quaint bars or on the deck of your ship.

On all dates the hybrid bike cruise, Gulf of Gökova, takes place parallel on the same ship. One tour guide leads the hybrid bikers, the other the mountain bikers. The degree of difficulty of the individual bike tours can be adapted to the condition and technical ability of the group. We can gladly send you the detailed tour itinerary of the hybrid bike cruise on request.

Most commonly she will be moored next to the Datca Ferry dock, however in the height of summer it is possible that she will be moored directly below the fortress of St. Peter in the vicinity of the customs office.

In order to locate the boat with the least amount of time spent looking, please contact our regional manager, Ali Sonay, shortly before arriving at the harbor and he will tell you the exact location of the boat you are looking for. You will find his mobile phone number in your travel documents.

Itinerary changes

We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements.

MTB level 2

Moderate to challenging daily tours in hilly terrain at distances of 16 – 30 mi./25 – 47 km and 985 – 3,150 ft/300 to 960 meters of elevation. The terrain in this region is very diverse and changes from island to island: technical and demanding single trails alternate with wide gravel 4×4 roads and sometimes also quiet asphalt stretches; there are very few unrideable points. Various sections in the tour are offered at a higher or lower technical degree, leaving you to make the final decision.

Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as Our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required). Furthermore, we recommend riders to carry arm and leg protectors during the bike tours. Our tours are dependent on weather conditions and the final  decision is that of the captain. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend time on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike-tour.

Single-Trail Classification
So that you are well prepared for your bike tour at Islandhopping, and that you know which technicality grade you should await to be confronted by, we have comprised a classification for all single trails which you will ride. The difficulty levels included in our classification coincide with the Singeltrail-Skala found at (

Blue (easy, S0 – S1): small obstacles such as small roots, small stones, small gully erosion, gradients of up to 40 %, loose surfaces, tight corners but no hairpins, skilful braking and weight shift required, riding while standing, obstacles can be rolled over.

Red (medium, S2): loose surfaces, larger stones and roots, steps and shallow stairs, gradients of up to 70 %, light hairpins, permanent braking readiness, displacement of centre of mass to overcome obstacles, accurate braking, permanent body tension.

Black (heavy, S3 – S5): blocked single trails, many large boulders and roots, smooth/slippery surfaces, loose scree slopes, large steps/drops, extremely steep gradients of over 70 %, tight hairpins, expert level of bike control/handling.

Requirement to wear a helmet

Helmet use is mandatory on all bike rides. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own well-fitted helmet. Rental helmets are available on board in limited number (reservation requested).

Alternative Arrival via Kos

At this point in time many travelers are skeptical about flying into Turkey. We would therefore like to inform you that all of these tours offer an alternative flight route via Kos Island, followed by a ferry connection to Bodrum harbour.

Weight Limit of Clients Bicycles Brought on Board

Please be aware, that we have a weight limit of 22 kg (48.5 lb), if you bring your own biycle/e-bike on board of one of our boats. This limit is important to protect the health of our guides/crew members, than they have to lift the bikes on board. If we consider it necessary, we will check the weight on site. If the weight limit is exceeded, we reserve the right to refuse taking the bike on board.

Our Ships

Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

Internet availability

Our Turkish boats do not offer a WiFi connection. If you need to connect to the internet during the tour, we recommend to take your portable electronic device to a cafe or bar somewhere in the harbour. Free WiFi is on offer almost everywhere. If you order something to eat or drink, then you are able to use the WiFi to your hearts content.
